My ears hurt.

Hello again,

We're all familiar with addons in WoW. And we all have Websites we use to help us with loot/quests/gems/tactics/rotations etc etc etc.

And i'm sure some players would be familiar with "Voice chat" or a commonly used program called "Ventrilo".

For those that don't know - Ventrilo (or vent for short) is a means of communicating over the internet by speaking. Almost like being on a phone. You can have several people on at once,able to listen & speak with a very respectable quality (depending on your own mic that is.)

Now i assume everybody can see how useful something like this would be in any guild? Not just a raiding guild. But ANY guild could use this system so people can properly communicate. There's just so much lost in translation when writing text into a chat bubble.

Well i'm very lucky to be in a guild were we have pretty much 24/7 access to our ventrilo server. And with it,raid discussing & tactics can be cut from 20 minutes of explaining to maybe 2-5 minutes.

It's also handy for calling out commands in an emergency:

"Tank 1 down!Tank 2 pick it up!"

"Healer 1 needs innervate from dps druid 2 asap!"

"Adds incoming!All dps move to your group's side now!"

"Paladin 1 move out of the fire!Paladin 2 cleans disease from Tank 2!"

Etc etc etc.

These things - while they may seems basic - are what can literally SAVE a raid group from WIPING.

Imagine if a healer tried to type any of the above sentences. Even if he/she was superb at typing,it would still take a second or 2. Which CAN lead to tanks dying. Or rather - it WILL in later content. Everybody needs to be on the same wave length & know exactly what they have to do.

Ventrilo is an excellent way to do this. You can save hours of typing at the touch of a button.

Now,that said,there are problems with ventrilo.

If you have a naturally high pitched voice or are quick to anger and like to raise your voice when angry.
PLEASE.DO.NOT.YELL.AT.THE.RAID.

It's too fucking annoying!Seriously,i know some people should be moving from this or avoiding that. And i may even agree that they're idiots. But please, do not shout at people over Ventrilo. It's so childish & pentulent. Not to mention that i'd probably gut you if you said anything directly to me.

I can't stand being barked at like i'm a kid who's done something wrong. If i "over aggro" (i'll address THAT gem another time) or i'm in the wrong place,just say "Fayt,move out of green slime please" not "come on guys!Move out of the way!It's not like this is hard!".

You won't make any friends that way,i tell you that!
I know it's very important for everyone to be focusing & all that. But it's only a game afterall yeah?

So anyway,Ventrilo is a great tool,but like every other tool, it's how it's used that make it good or bad.

I'm seriously too tired to know if anything i've said has made sense. (Do NOT stay up doing dailies til 5:30 just because you don't have work/school.It's not fun.) So i'll stop there for now.
